Under the Trump Administration, S.E.C. enforcement cases against crypto companies that have violated investor protection, anti-money laundering, and other laws are down 60%. Meanwhile, President Trump is granting unconditional pardons to convicted crypto felons - including Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao, who has funded the likes of Hamas, North Korea, Al-Qaeda, and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard - and exploiting the American presidency to hawk Trump family crypto businesses such as World Liberty Financial, which has already netted a $1.4 billion payday.
At yesterday’s @USHouseFSC Committee Hearing, I demanded that Trump’s @SECGov Chair Paul Atkins restore the agency to its fundamental mission as the “cop on the beat” to protect American investors against fraud, scams, and other malicious activities involving cryptocurrency, instead of allowing bad actors to go free.
