I'm claiming to fight for higher taxes on the rich, including myself, and to create universal programs that help the working class. I believe the problem is corporations and billionaires who buy politicians in Congress and use it to make sure politicians never do anything that goes against them. And yes, I'm saying I'm different from them because I have different politics. I've spent 10 years fighting for those politics, primarying corporate Democrats to change the party, and I plan to do the same when in Congress this time around. I'm going up against millions from the AI lobbies, crypto billionaires, tech VCs and others. I could combat that by doing a ton of call time with donors and owing a bunch of people a bunch of favors. Or I could put in my own resources so I'll actually be free to fight those forces, so I've chosen to do that.

I don't take any corporate PAC, crypto, or AI money and I never will. That's why I can have a real AI plan that works for working people, instead of just giving a slap on the wrist to tech oligarchs.

The same tech VCs and crypto billionaires supporting my opponent, Scott Wiener, are also supporting a pro-Iran War primary challenger against Ro Khanna. That's because the tech industry has become one of the biggest profiteers from America's endless wars.

I don't do call time asking big donors for money, and I haven't sent fundraising emails or texts to San Franciscans asking for money. That's not the case for my opponents. Despite that, we've raised nearly $400,000 from almost 10,000 donors averaging just $27 a donation. We idual donors than my opponents combined. But I know it's not enough. In this race, I'm up against millions of dollars that Scott Wiener is raising from AIPAC board members, tech VCs, the AI lobby, crypto billionaires, and Trump megadonors. I'm up against multiple corporate super PACs. To face that kind of money, I could spend my time calling big donors for money, and then, like Scott, I'd owe them a million favors when I'm in DC. I can't do that in good conscience. Plus, they don't WANT me to win. After all, I am talking about completely changing Democratic Party leadership, passing a wealth tax on the ultrarich (including myself), and breaking the stranglehold of corporate money in our politics. And I've spent over a decade fighting for it at the federal level. Or I can choose to put in my own resources so I'll have the freedom to fight the oligarchy in Washington. I've chosen to do the latter.

“The vast majority of Chakrabarti’s donors (66%) are from outside California. In fact, only 7% of them live in San Francisco.” When @saikatc isn’t trying to buy the seat with his own money, he’s trying to buy the seat with out of state money.

My opponent will do anything to win this seat, including lie and take money from crypto and tech billionaires. When I'm elected, I'll only be accountable to you and I won't owe anyone any favors — Scott can't say the same.

Let’s be very clear: the narco dictator Trump is pardoning was beloved by the crypto world for creating lawless, sovereign zones for tech utopias organized around crypto. The current govt moved to shut them down. The crypto class fought back and Trump is now doing their bidding.

Democrats including Nancy Pelosi just voted with Republicans to pass the GENIUS Act, which specifically does not prohibit Trump from profiting off of stablecoins, a type of cryptocurrency. This is especially egregious when Trump is already using his position as President to publicans needed Dem votes to pass this, and Dems willingly gave them because it was a crypto industry priority.

This is a bill Democrats had the power to stop. But 18 Senate Democrats and over 100 House Democrats, including my opponent Nancy Pelosi, joined Republicans to vote for it because this was a crypto industry priority. Nancy Pelosi just enabled Trump’s corruption.

The GENIUS Act explicitly bars members of Congress and federal officials from profiting off stablecoins but EXEMPTS the president, vice president, and their families. This carve-out allows Trump to leverage his position for personal gain without conflict-of-interest barriers.

It sounds a lot like they are setting up the conditions for a mass transfer of wealth to crypto in the case of a financial meltdown. And then making a financial meltdown more likely through a bonkers tariff strategy and a terrible budget.

Crypo backers want us to treat crypto like a financial asset when it comes to listing them on ETFs or creating a crypto reserve, but when it comes to taxing them like a financial asset, suddenly they deserve an exception? Sorry, you can't have it both ways.

Missed this yesterday. 19 Democrats (including Chuck Schumer.....) joined Republicans in voting to repeal a Biden rule requiring cryptocurrency brokers to adhere to the same tax reporting rules as stock brokers. A yes vote is a pro-fraud, pro-tax-evasion vote here.

@Trevor_McHaney Yes, we should do those too. China is also eating our lunch on nuclear. But none of these industries is getting helped by an industrial policy of investing in crypto. China explicitly banned crypto because it diverts valuable resources away from actually productive industries.

While China eats our lunch by investing to build all the cars, batteries, trains, and bridges across the world, we are focusing on buying up chips at the casino. Of all the industries to focus on, crypto is the only one for which there is zero good reason.

Conservative government officials also went after tech. Tech CEOs were being attacked by GOP Congressmen for 'censorship' and JD Vance is a big critic of Big Tech. So what's the simple explanation for the most crypto invested parts of tech going rightward?

So many folks trying to explain Silicon Valley's rightshift without mentioning "progressive activism disrupted their operations", "progressive journalism took a hard anti-tech turn", and "progressive antitrust went after their businesses". Why seek non-obvious explanations when the obvious ones are right there?
